Local Entrepreneur, Military Veteran Brings Non-Medical Home Care Services to the Bay Area

SAN CARLOS, CA – MAY 13, 2020 – FirstLight® Home Care, an award-winning provider of non-medical home care services, is pleased to welcome one of its newest offices, located at 1622 San Carlos Ave, Suite C, in San Carlos, California. Jim Carteris owns the home care location which provides companion and personal caregiving services to residents throughout the Bay area, including San Mateo County and part of San Francisco.

FirstLight Home Care of The Peninsula delivers non-medical home care to people who need companionship and help at home, including seniors, veterans, adults with disabilities and those recovering from illness, injury or surgery. Highly trained FirstLight caregivers help with many needs, from errands, transportation and household tasks to individual responsibilities like bathing and personal hygiene.

Jim has served as caregiver a couple of times in his life. When Jim’s mother became very ill and had to be hospitalized, Jim took a hardship discharge from the U.S. Air Force to care for her while also taking over the family business, which he ran for almost 20 years. Additionally, Jim cared for his long-time best friend and mentor who was recovering from cancer and needed assistance at home with the activities of daily living.

“A Few years back, my wife and I lost all of our parents within a two-year period, and through that time we came to know several caregivers,” said Jim. “The great ones were those we accepted into our family and that provided a great comfort to our loved ones. And as a military veteran myself, I am committed to providing the best care for our veterans in the Bay Area.”

Jim has already begun building a strong, knowledgeable team, hiring two professionals with deep experience in the health care/home care field. Grace Ramirez is Community Relationship Manager, and Rachelle Ashton is Client Care Manager.
