FirstLight Home Care Recognizes 2015 Caregiver of the Year
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (May 1, 2015) — Whether she is with her clients or her fellow employees, Michelle Moran makes those around her feel safe, comfortable and loved. For more than a year as a FirstLight Home Care caregiver, she has emulated the company’s culture of care.
During the company’s annual conference in Cincinnati, she was recognized as the FirstLight Home Care 2015 National Caregiver of the Year. She was selected from thousands of caregivers among more than 138 FirstLight locations nationwide.
FirstLight Home Care, provider of quality, affordable, non-medical in-home care for adults, offers complete companion and personal care services for seniors, new mothers, those recovering from surgery and others in need of assistance. Services include bathing and hygiene, walking and mobility assistance, continence and toileting assistance and live-in services.
Michelle’s ability to help both her clients feel safe and her fellow caregivers learn and grow shows that caring for others is at the heart of everything she does,” said Judy Devincentis, owner, FirstLight Home Care, Grand Junction. “Her dedication to her personal development, which includes a CNA license and Alzheimer’s and dementia certifications, demonstrates her concern for her clients by being not only a loving caregiver but trained to handle a variety of situations.”
Her fellow employees look forward to her “Gotcha Cards,” which recognize them for doing something exceptional. Her caregivers look forward to her engaging personality, which helps her make even the most challenging Alzheimer’s or dementia patients feel safe and comfortable.
Michelle demonstrated her patience and caregiving skills recently when she travelled from Colorado to New York via the train with a suicidal dementia patient. Michelle developed a relationship with the client during the journey, and helped her arrive safely by providing both physical and mental care.
“It was a challenging assignment, but one that Michelle didn’t hesitate to accept,” Devincentis said. “While not all assignments are that challenging, it is great to have someone of Michelle’s caliber on our team.”
FirstLight Home Care CEO Jeff Bevis was equally impressed.
“We had so many extraordinary caregivers to select from, but Michelle’s nomination really reflected all the qualities that make our FirstLight Home Care caregivers the very best, and allow us to provide exceptional care to all our clients,” Bevis said.
