We’ve Been in Your Shoes
My wife Shalini and I were inspired to start a home care agency to serve the Greater Boston area after experiencing the value of caregivers in our own lives.
Shalini’s dad struggled with dementia before he passed away. Coordinating his care from miles away, we realized how difficult it can be when your loved one is in failing health and you can’t be there to care of them yourself.
My dad’s had chronic health and mobility issues for many years and I grew up helping my mom take care of dad and my younger siblings. She is a caregiver extraordinaire and I want to ensure that anyone who needs a helping hand has someone like my mom to lovingly care for them. That’s why we only hire compassionate caregivers who genuinely enjoy helping others and bringing a smile to their face.
Dementia Care
To better help so many of our senior clients living with Alzheimer’s and other Dementia, I decided to become a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). This specialized training helps me develop holistic and personalized care plans for clients living with dementia, and equally importantly, advice their families on how to better understand and interact with their loved ones. I also developed a dementia training module to equip all our caregivers with redirection tips and techniques to compassionately care for clients living with dementia.

Completely Personalized Home Care

Person-First Dementia Care
FirstLight Home Care of Boston Northwest’s CEO & owner, Girish Lahoty, is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). This specialized dementia training helps us to take a Person-First Dementia Care approach to develop personalized and holistic care plans for clients living with Alzheimer’s and other Dementia. It also helps us advise families on strategies to better understand and interact with their loved ones who are living with this disease.
Using his comprehensive knowledge about dementia, Girish created a unique dementia care training module for our caregivers to equip ALL our caregivers with tips and techniques to compassionately care for clients living with dementia.

We gather feedback from our clients and their families on a monthly basis through an independent third-party evaluation company. Through our ongoing commitment to ask and listen, we learn where we are successful and where we need to improve to deliver unparalleled home care and elderly care.
