John Richards and his staff at FirstLight Home Care deserve 5 Stars. Here’s what happened over the past 5 days. My father is 91 and needs help living at home. His longtime live-in aid was taken to the hospital on a Thursday morning. I left work and rushed over arriving just as the ambulance was leaving. I started calling several home care agencies to find a temporary replacement … and perhaps a longterm replacement given the uncertainty. Nearly all the home care agencies I called were thoughtful and nice. I’m sure most of them tried to help. The difference was John and his staff did more. They jumped into action. He came over that afternoon to help me think through what to do. The next day he came again with George, the temporary health care aid. George was respectful, organized and very understanding with my Dad. John also checked back. We talked on Friday, Saturday, and just a few minutes ago today on Sunday.

You were able to have qualified aides be there within a few hours of knowing she was being admitted. The shifts were covered with her for the entire time, so our family could have peace knowing she was being well taken care of when we could not be with her. Ryan was personal, caring, professional and very understanding of our situation. He made sure the perfect matches were put into place. I would highly recommend FirstLight and would call them again should the need arise.

In looking for home health care options for my mom we had many choices. After interviewing a few companies I was the most impressed with FirstLight, they stood out. Ryan answered all my questions, put me at ease and gave me a good level of comfort. During the past month, Ryan was so good at taking our calls and following my mom’s care along the way. From visiting nurses, visiting aides and finally bringing in hospice, him and John the owner took my phone calls, listened to my hurt and sadness during each stage of her sickness. It’s a tough thing to live 2500 miles away and entrust a company and individual to care for a loved one. My mom was bed ridden with stage 4 metastatic cancer but still had her wits about her. Our Care giver Tanella was amazing, attentive and so loving with my mom. I can’t say enough about her – it brings tears to my eyes to think of all the little things she did for my mom. Little things, big things and just being there. Tanella became part of our family which means a lot considering she only had the opportunity to care for my mom for about a month. First Light Home Care has been an answer to so many needs. My father-in-law has a debilitating illness which is progressively become more severe and requiring increased care and supervision. First Light Home Care responded quickly and thoughtfully by providing someone who grasped the situation and became more than a mere caregiver. My father-in-law is allowed to do the things for which he still has the capabilities, while receiving unobtrusive supervision and care on those tasks for which he is not. The caregiver also far exceeds the “task” of care and supervision by engaging my father-in-law in relational and physical activities with conversation, games, walks, etc. My father-in-law receives excellent care and supervision. The care is very flexible and has been increased when schedules and obligations required and decreased when not necessary. The services provided by First Light Home Care is transformational. My family’s life has resumed to being more normal and relaxed. It is no longer a rush from one errand and task to another in “crisis mode”. There is time to spend time as a family and family activities, not focusing on just the physical care of my father-in-law. First Light Home Care has far exceeded our expectations and needs.

i Was struggling to find someone to provide a few hours a few days a week to help take care of Mom. After numerous fruitless calls to agencies that said they couldn’t help I was referred to FirstLight by an agency to Firstlight. From my first conversations with Ryan I had a feeling that FirstLight was my answer. From the owner and Ryan , Heather, the office staff and down to each different caregiver (I believe we had 4 over the year, one was the primary and others to fill in when needed). the level of professionalism, knowledge, compassion, attitude and understanding gave me comfort that my mom was going to receive the best care. Scheduling was also quick and easy. If I needed extra hours or additional days they always were able to have a competent caregiver available. If the primary caregiver couldn’t make it they sent a replacement. They always had someone to be there for mom.
