In-Home Care Services Throughout Northern Kentucky
We know your first priority when choosing a home care provider is finding someone you can trust and rely on… someone who will care for your loved one as you would, and as we would our own. We’ve been where you are, and this is one of the main reasons we chose to be in this business.
Beth Steel, Owner
Beth Steel, the owner of FirstLight Home Care of Northern Kentucky, never dreamed she would own her own business. She spent the first 25 years of her career in advertising and climbed the corporate ladder to become an executive at a Cincinnati ad agency. While she found great success she never felt she was doing what she was put on this earth to do. Through a series of family events and an introduction by a good friend, she found her passion in the non-medical, in-home care industry with FirstLight Home Care of Northern Kentucky.
Beth was fortunate to have three grandparents live into their 90’s. They were fiercely independent and remained in their homes for a long time before being moved into assisted living communities. They could have maintained their independence, and that sparkle in their eye, a bit longer if they had the professional caregiving services a company like FirstLight Home Care provides available in their area.
In 2001, Beth’s younger brother John was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 35. He was married with two little girls and given less than a year to live. In 2005, her dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He fought hard but passed away in 3 months at age 65. In 2009, Beth’s baby brother Keary dropped dead of a heart attack at the age of 42. Her life was turned upside down.
She was introduced by a friend to Jeff Bevis, the man who started FirstLight Home Care and she knew she had found her passion. Beth opened her doors in 2012, three months before her brother John lost his battle with brain cancer. It was because of home care that her dad and John were able to live out their time at home.
Beth is driven to help families avoid the frustrations she felt when working with care agencies:
- Caregivers who are trained and familiar with the client and their needs
- Caregivers who arrive as scheduled and if not, a backup is provided
- Someone from FirstLight is available anytime, day or night, to address a family concern
- A team that goes over and above to ensure client satisfaction
- Beth is a Certified Senior Advisor and a founding member of SeniorFocus, a networking group dedicated to helping seniors in Northern Kentucky. FirstLight Home Care of Northern Kentucky is a proud member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and is a certified Women/Minority owned business.
