We know your first priority when choosing a home care provider is finding someone you can trust and rely on… someone who will care for your loved one as you would, and as we would our own. We’ve been where you are, and this is one of the main reasons we chose to be in this business.

Caregiving and doing for others has been a way of life for us. We remember how giving and kind our parents were as we were raising our children. They were foster parents to over 100 babies. They helped care for those in need, including other family members and church members. They loved helping people. Especially when it came to caring for our daughter, Jamie, who has Down Syndrome and several other disabilities. We were blessed to have them as an example of how to care for others.

Then it came their turn. Jerry’s mother had many health issues since she was 30 and they all caught up with her. It was time for us to give to her what she had given to us and others for years. We found it was a much more difficult job than we thought. Juggling a family at home who had their needs and trying to be sure that she and Dad received all that they needed became a struggle. At the same time, we were going through the process of trying to find caregivers to help us with our daughter who had aged out of the school program.

After Jerry’s parents passed and we were on our third agency and several different caregivers for Jamie, we decided that it was time for a change of direction. We were facing some changes in one of our two businesses, and we felt that using what we had learned in our everyday life would be a great way to make a difference to our community. We had high standards for caregiving and caregivers and looked for a company in who had the same values we had. Then we found FirstLight Home Care. They had the same values and the same standards. We knew we had found a perfect match.

Now we can help others, doing what we love to do. We have our son, David, working along with us and hope to soon have more of our children to help serve you and others in the community of South Central Indiana.
