Local franchisee meets increasing demand for caregiving services, brings jobs to the community

Christine Schumann owns and operates FirstLight Home Care of Minneapolis West Metro, which provides companion care and personal care services to individuals who need support in the place they call home, including seniors, veterans, adults with disabilities, those recuperating and individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Professional, trained caregivers help with many needs, from companionship, transportation and household tasks to individual responsibilities like bathing and personal hygiene.

My former job ended at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. With much time to reflect, coupled with the emotions of not being able to be near loved ones, I knew I wanted something meaningful for the next chapter in my life. I also thought about my own grandmother who, at age 93, is still able to live in her own home and would not want it any other way.”
